MEL ELLIOTT
Mel Simone Elliott was born and raised in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. After studying Graphic Design and then spending several years working in education, she embarked upon a career in art and restudied at Batley School of Art and Design.
The work makes a very tongue in cheek study of women. Influenced by fashion and interiors magazines, the work sums up women¹s obsession with owning ‘nice stuff’ and women¹s tortuous lives in general.
Mel works predominantly with gouache for a very flat, crisp look and paintings often feature pattern and household objects.
